Our kitchen staff love to create nostalgic meals and are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. One memorable day in our kitchen was when our residents helped make apple pies with their picked apples.
Our staff includes highly trained LPNs and HCAs hired for their expertise and warm, empathetic personalities. These experienced professionals are committed to creating a safe and comforting environment for our residents to receive care.
HomePlace Special Care at Oak Harbor is also proud to offer our Memory Care residents our award-winning SPARK® program, which was developed in conjunction with the teachings and research of Maria Montessori and Dr. Cameron Camp.
SPARK® is designed to engage our residents with proven rehabilitative strategies that strive to heighten interaction, optimize cognitive skills as well as promote a sense of purpose and accomplishment. We use tailor fit assessment tools to evaluate each resident’s capabilities and strengths, so the program can best meet their specific needs. Residents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities based on their personal interests and abilities.
SPARK® activities have included musical therapy and performances, puzzle night, family movie night, bird watching, baking and cooking classes, Veteran’s celebrations, pizza parties, painting days, tea parties, pet therapy, bowling, donation drives, and many more exciting events.
